After a weekend spent at the V Festival – in the most glamorous fashion of course – Drew Barrymore led the celebrity pack this week with a tour de force of outfits while promoting her new film Going The Distance.

Beginning the week in a flowing strapless dress by Catherine Malandrino, Drew continued the metallic theme in New York, wearing a sequined top by Richard Chai and elegant trousers by Camilla and Marc for an appearance on the David Letterman Show. The sequined baton was then taken up by Jessica Alba who wore a zig-zag pattern Balmain dress to the Machete film premiere in LA.

Away from the red carpet, Rachel Bilson, Pixie Lott and Reese Witherspoon worked hard to keep summer alive in short-shorts and mini skirts. Meanwhile, with one eye on autumn/winter, Drew ended this week’s sartorial run with a splendid patterned cape and leather riding boots.

Also; according to  Vogue UK, Drew shared of her V-Festival MAC essentials: MAC Lipsticks in Myth and Blankety, Studio Moisture Tint in Medium and Light and MAC Eye Kohl in Teddy.

Drew Barrymore has insisted that hiring Christina Applegate as her sister in Going The Distance was perfect casting.

Barrymore claimed that after spending a substantial amount of time with her co-star on set, she began to realize that she and Applegate physically resembled each other, reports Contactmusic.

She said: “I thought it was interesting, I felt like we started to really look alike, which I thought was cool. I loved when people cast siblings where it’s actually feasible could have come from the same womb, so I felt like we started to morph.”

The actress also revealed that knowing the former Married With Children star since childhood helped the pair naturally bond as sisters on the rom-com.

She added: “We used to be in a dance class together when we were kids, but she looked really good in spandex and I did not. I’ve known her forever. We have a lot of parallels. It worked for us.”

Going The Distance is currently playing in the UK and arrives in US cinemas on September 3.

It’s been almost 3 decades now, that actress Drew Barrymore has been captivating audiences on the silver screen. I’ve watched her through the years, growing from one of the cutest Hollywood child actresses into a troubled teen and then into a mature and beautiful woman. Drew Barrymore’s transition has been not unlike the transformation from catterpillar into butterfly – not without it’s awkward and ugly stages but, then, what Hollywood Cinderella tale isn’t?

With the release of her new movie, “Going the Distance,” I’d like to take a few moments and reflect on some other great roles that this talented actress acted in. Maybe you’ve seen some of these or maybe you haven’t. If you’re a true Drew Barrymore fan, though, you’ll definitely want to check these out:

10 Great Drew Barrymore Roles You Shouldn’t Miss:

1. Gertie in “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial” – This was Barrymore’s second movie, but the one that launched her into stardom. Directed by Steven Spielberg, E.T. was based on an imaginary friend that Spielberg had created after his parents divorced. A magical and touching tale about a group of children who try and help an alien return home, “E.T.” was a favorite movie of many children during the 80′s. Drew was exceptionally cute in her role as the little sister, “Gertie.”

2. Charlie McGee in “Firestarter” – This movie always made me wonder if Stephen King had issues with creepy girls. I’m not sure why, but Charlie McGee always had weird “Carrie” overtones for me, but I loved both of the movies. In “Firestarter,” Drew Barrymore plays a young girl who has developed pyrokinesis. As the government seeks to control her, she develops it to dangerous levels in this 1984 sci-fi thriller.

3. Casey Brodsky in “Irreconcilable Differences” - Also released in 1984 was this comedy-drama in which young Casey Brodsky chooses to divorce her parents. Of course, most kids have entertained thoughts of this at one point or another during their lives but, interestingly, Drew actually did go on to file for emancipation from her parents – and was successful in doing so.

4. Ivy in “Poison Ivy” - This is bad-girl Barrymore at her finest. Released in 1992, this is a thrilling tale of a wicked and twisted teenage girl who befriends another girl before stepping in and attempting to take over her life. Sleek and seductive, the character of Ivy was ranked Entertainment Weekly’s #6 “bad girl” on the list of top 26 “bad girls” of all time. If you like a wicked, witchy woman – don’t pass this one up.

5. Holly Gooding/Doppelganger in “Doppelganger” – This movie was rather remeniscent of “Poison Ivy” in that it also deals with a bad girl (or in this case, evil twin), attempting to take over an innocent’s life. Released in 1993, this is a good DVD rental for when you want to chill with a bowl of popcorn.

Back out for another evening of promotional work, Drew Barrymore was all smiles as she arrived at the Ed Sullivan Theatre in New York City on Tuesday (August 24).

There for an appearance on the “Late Show with David Letterman”, the “ET” actress is in the midst of building hype for her upcoming film “Going the Distance” – which hits theaters on September 3rd.

Having attended the Nanette Burstein directed film’s premiere in Los Angeles the previous evening, Drew opened up to the Evening Standard about an awful interview taking place at the red carpet event.

She tells, “You should have heard this b**ch I had to do an interview with before you. God, I wanted to punch her, she would just not drop the youth thing. I have no problem talking about it. I am not someone who is ashamed of my past. I’m actually really proud. I know I made a lot of mistakes, but they in turn were my life lessons.”

Miss Barrymore continued to vent, “It’s actually good to get it done young and have a great life later. But yeah, man, I wanted to rip this woman’s face off. She just would not shut up about it.”
